Hello friends,
I will be shipping out the 5 journals to the ladies this week. I will make sure to take pictures and post them for everyone to see. Thank you so much for all of your help with this. We could not have done it without you. I have heard the 5 ladies are excited and waiting for our package to arrive.
I have been asked this week what RAK stands for. It stands for Random Acts of Kindness. It is really any act of kindness paid forward to someone with the expectation of nothing in return. You do it because you want to help someone out.
Word has spread about what we are doing and we have been asked to make 18 journals for a rehab facility. There are men and women at this facility and art and journal are a part of their healing process. The rehab center is a non-profit so they run off of donations. I posted the need for help today and many of you have stepped up and offered to help us make some journals. I can't say thank you enough. 18 is a lot for anyone one person and these will each be unique and reflect our own personal style.
Other ways you can help is by making tip-ins for us to add to these journals such as tags, envelopes and really anything else we can attache to the journal pages. It might seem small but anything helps. I have said before we are working on seeing if we can put some art packets together for kids that have chronic or terminal illnesses. This will give them something to do while they are stuck in a bad situation.
I went to Honduras in June of last year and I took 2 suitcases full of art equipment to kids over there. Most of the kids have never had crayons, markers or even pencils. In order for us to give these out to the kids our boat pulled up and we threw bags of goodies out to the kids. I have never seen kids fight over such small goodies. Some of them lived in boats on the shore and had absolutely no clothing. I will post pictures for you to look at. It was by far the most humbling experience of my life to date. I can't imagine my daughters life without crayons seeing as she is my little artist.
I am dedicated to making this my lifes mission and work. I want to help others in any way big or small. Thank you for taking this journey with me and making this happen one journal at a time.
